According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town has a total region of 7.8 square kilometers (3.0 sq mi).

7.7 km2 (3.0 sq mi) of it is territory and 0.1 km2 (0.04 sq mi) of it (1.00%) is water.

Prior to the existence of Mabank in early 1900, the improve of Lawndale was formed in the late 1880s.

But with the Texas Trunk Railroad missing the improve by a mile, Ranchers Mason and Eubank decided to capitalize on the Texas Trunk and set aside one square mile of territory and titled it "Mabank".

Mabank is a combination of the names Eubank and Mason and is positioned one mile (1.6 km) southwest of the former improve of Lawndale.

This encompassed the Lawndale Courier - the small-town journal that retitled itself the Mabank Courier.

The population, although small, remained mostly stable from its until the culmination of Cedar Creek Reservoir in 1965. The town has since shown increases in population.

The schools are Central Elementary, Southside Elementary, Lakeview Elementary, Mabank Intermediate School, Mabank Jr.

High and Mabank High School.

Mabank is positioned on the easterly edge of Cedar Creek Reservoir, a prominent destination for weekend visitors from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
