Early is positioned near the center of Brown County at 31 44 41 N 98 56 28 W (31.744601, -98.941171). The Pecan Bayou, a tributary of the Colorado River, runs past the end of the city, with the town/city of Brownwood on the opposite side of the river.
According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, Early has a total region of 2.9 square miles (7.6 km2), all of it texan. As of the census of 2000, 2,588 citizens , 980 homeholds, and 752 families resided in the city.
The ethnic makeup of the town/city was 94.17% White, 1.00% African American, 0.35% Native American, 0.58% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 3.25% from other competitions, and 0.62% from two or more competitions.
