State of Texas inside the Houston Sugar Land Baytown urbane region and Harris County.

The populace was 38,289 at the 2010 census. The Handbook of Texas describes Channelview as "an petroleum refinery suburb of urbane Houston." Channelview, positioned at the point where the San Jacinto River forms the Old River, is south of Interstate 10 and the Missouri Pacific Railroad and 15 miles (24 km) east of Downtown Houston. Channelview was given its name since it is positioned on the northeastern curve of the Houston Ship Channel. The site of Channelview was home to Lorenzo de Zavala, one of the beginning fathers of the Republic of Texas.
